Ride and Handling
Mahindra is a company known for building rugged, sturdy cars and SUVs, so they were an excellent choice to partner with Jeep in making the Renegade. As a result, the vehicle handles decently but it’s not what we would consider being truly off-road ready.
The steering is actually quite vague and low speed maneuvering can be difficult as a result. We also found that if you try to go off-roading with this car, there are limits on how much abuse it can take before it begins to break down. With these caveats in mind, we would have liked the car to be more comfortable than it was because long trips became too tiring for us after about an hour or two on the road.
Dimensions, Boot Space and Practicality
Dimensions of the car are as follows: Length is 4630mm, Width 1790mm and Height is 1830mm. It comes with 710 litres of boot space which can be extended to 1067 litres when back seats are folded down. Wheelbase is 2930mm. Ground clearance is 170mm and it weighs 2,181kg.
Overall it has a decent design that many people like. I have seen it compared to cars such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Jaguar F-Pace quite often. The only problem might be in poor rear visibility due to a more curvy body shape that doesn’t allow for optimal visibility through the rearview mirror.
Safety and Reliability
While it’s not safety tested to the rigorous standards of an American SUV, the new XUV is certainly safe. In fact, with a Euro NCAP rating of 4 stars, it’s one of the safest SUVs on sale.
Furthermore, unlike the Scorpio and ix20, the XUX 700 is designed to seat 7 people comfortably. The rear seats are split 60/40 and you can recline them fully too so they’re as comfortable as possible when travelling longer distances.

The XUV offers decent ride quality, with more choppy bits showing up in the rear. The cabin is quiet and there’s plenty of space for both passengers and cargo. The cabin is attractive in an understated way, but some controls lack visual distinction.
Back seats fold down to create a long open cargo area.
