The task of identifying the most memorable video games ever made is a challenge and an hour and a half. What can you determine? It’s how certain titles have influenced the future of games, as well as whether or they had stunning graphics in addition to how much enjoyed the games as children versus today. However, ultimately, it all comes down to taste. We looked around and took a look around the scene, taking into account every game that has carved their way into the world of pixelated fame and we came up with more than 100 games. We narrowed it down to just 20, then narrowed it down further, and ended up with fifteen video games are, in our opinion, over three decades worth of enthralling gaming. With 2020 looking to be an exciting year for new games but who is to say? It’s possible that we’ll need to rethink the game.
14. Shovel Knight
The Shovel Knight is an independent game that appears to not only blitz its way through the Triple A market. But it also reaches every mark with grace and commitment. It is certainly worthy to be listed on this list for a reason, not least because it provided an unstoppable stream of massive free content from its launch in 2014 and lasted until the month of December. Shovel Knight draws inspiration from old-fashioned platformers, as well as “metroidvania” titles. That we are fond of, and adds its own unique twists that set it above the rest. The iconic graphics in 8-bit coupled with the flexibility of gameplay across campaigns makes Shovel Knight more than just one of our top indie games, but also one of our absolute favorites. It achieves that perfect balance between nostalgia and a sense of humour which will keep players hooked for a long time. I’m currently in the middle of my 12th playthrough.
13. Overwatch
Overwatch It’s an innovative version of the first-person shooter genre and sets itself apart. Its gorgeously designed characters as well as an emphasis on the team’s composition and objective-based gameplay. Overwatch has been able to keep an ongoing flow of new maps, heroes, events as well as skins, since it’s release in 2016 and isn’t slowing down. Overwatch 2 is coming soon with a lot similar gameplay, as well as the addition of new story-driven and co-op game modes, which means there’s lot of exciting things to come.
12. The Last of Us
When people discuss the film The of Us, they talk about the story. They speak about the story that is among the most impressive stories that films that the medium has ever had. Can we rewind the action for a moment? At this point, we’re just about fully desensitized to beat-and-shoot-and-fuck-em-up gameplay, but The Last of Us restores the thrill of, you know, Sparta-kicking a goon down a flight of stairs. The game is a lot of fun, virtually every weapon is a weapon. Joel and Ellie are fighting styles that are authentic to who they are as individuals and there’s real stakes to every fight. Which, yeah you can blame that Oscar-worthy plot for.
11. Minecraft
Minecraft revolutionized in the game’s sandbox gameplay and is still regarded among the top games ever. It’s quite effortless to get lost for hours playing with your group of friends or alone building whatever you can imagine. The massive Minecraftempire is increased exponentially since its launch almost a decade ago by collaborating more, server systems and new IPs, such as an adventure game, and an upcoming dungeon-crawler. Additionally, Minecraft is accessible on smartphones all the way to the largest gaming PC. You must acknowledge the its size.
10. Grand Theft Auto V
There’s no way I’ve owned one GTA V However, my roommate from college had. Every day, while the class was in session I would fire up my PS4 and launch GTA and get in an automobile, and drive. I’d switch on Rebel Radio — which I’m not shitting you was my beginnings with American folk music, and where I first encountered legends such as Tammy Wynette and the Highwaymen. Highwaymen and Tammy Wynette. I would then take up to an hour driving around a virtual highway and top-down. As if I was in the Corvette commercial. It’s true that there are other ways to go in the GTA for example, such as hitting an innocent pedestrian on the head or being exiled from the strip club. However, my afternoon drives went well. After fifteen years in GTA, Rockstar finally put the series’ finest elements together – the open and endless world and it’s Fast and Furious-esque story, the pitch-perfect satire, into the most epic installment of this franchise ever had.
9. World of Warcraft COURTESY
World of Warcraft which was released in the year 2004. Isn’t so much an online game, as much of an way to live. Your high school friends that played WOW had a whole distinct culture; they lived in a different world, interacted with one another and people from around the world, night after night. Because of this, it is a worthy memory to be honored as a great all-timer.
8. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The game is the main reason for the Switch’s huge popularity (although Animal Crossing is currently making waves). Breath of the Wild is by far the most stunning open world that we’ve seen on a gaming console and tells an amazing story with innovative gameplay, but with very little scenes. The puzzles are awe-inspiring and the gameplay is amazing and full of possibilities. It’s a completely an experience that is completely new to Zelda But more than that it’s an entirely an entirely new experience in gaming. With an upcoming sequel (fingers hoping for a release date in 2020) we’ll get lots more from our blond-haired , elf.
7. Portal 2
This game has rules. It is a single-player game. The co-op. The plot. The challenges. It’s like it’s a perfect game. The simple way to describe it is that Portal is a game that Portal Series has the players use two portals in order to assist in solving problems. The way in which this technique is implemented and improved throughout the game is definitely one of the most innovative techniques we’ve ever seen. It gets even more thrilling and wild (read frustrating) when you play two-player cooperative. It’s a great game. Portal franchise could’ve been on the list based on the concept of portals alone. It also gave us an engaging story and a plethora of players, as well as a truly memorable world.
6. Pokemon Red and Blue
The Pokemon franchise has conquered the globe. With apps for mobile, long-running handheld games, an animated series, and much more, gaming will not be the same with out the Pokemon franchise. The story began with Blue and Red. Blue and blue. Prior to the time that “Pikachu” became a household brand, Red and Blue were the basic games for role-playing that changed the way handhelds were played and sparked an era of pop culture.
5. Wii Sports
Everyone (and I do refer to everybody who played, enjoyed and played Wii Sports. Even the most hardcore of gamers smirked. Although it’s not an intricate piece but it has always had the ability to bring non-gamers and gamers together. Few games have achieved the similar level of accessibility and the acclaim of the public like it. And it was available for free on the Wii and that’s why there was this.
4. Street Fighter II
There are a myriad of classics in the fight game genre. However, even much more Mortal Kombat or Marvel against. Capcom or even Tekken the impact from Street Fighter II has not stopped for many decades. It is still used in professional competitions up to the present, Street Fighter II was the source for the book on the game of fighting. It’s still in use.
3. Tetris
An integral part of gaming from 1984 onwards, Tetris remains an icon of pop culture. Name a single person who hasn’t played the game and got attracted by it. The puzzler is constantly on the radar with new popular releases such as The Tetris Effect and Pacman as well as numerous games for mobile devices, showing that it can last the tests of time.
2. Super Mario World
A decision among Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3 is a tough choice, but the former has a slight edge over the latter. Super Mario World established a significant foundation and tone to the next generation of everyone’s favourite plumber. The colorful, 16-bit style of art is still stunning today.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Ocarina of Time was for many the pivotal moment in video games. It was the moment where the medium established its place as a prestigious medium to express creativity. Undoubtedly the first truly exceptional 3D gaming experience, Ocarina of Time has inspired numerous games by its dark style, nostalgic narrative, and an incredible soundtrack.
