Using accent lighting in living rooms

In this area you can see accent lights to highlight decorations on the walls, family photos, titles or certificates, objects or even the television thanks to LED strips transforming the living room into a home cinema to share with family and/or friends.

    Using accent lighting in bedrooms

The room can be illuminated by spotlights embedded in the ceiling at specific points responsible for illuminating the space by refraction. It is also used in areas such as bedroom closets and walk-in closets.

    Using accent lighting in bathrooms

Accent lights are used in bathrooms in the mirror area to facilitate activities such as brushing teeth, washing hands and/or applying makeup. They can also be used to accent decorations with recessed lights.

    Use accent lights in kitchens

In kitchens, accent lighting is used to enhance designs and utility areas. The most common fixtures in kitchens are recessed and track spotlights.

Use of accent lighting in museums and theaters

Museums are arguably where accent lighting is most used to showcase artwork, with recessed lighting and track lighting being the way it is implemented. Theaters also benefit from this lighting to draw attention to the stage, it is also used in the hallways and showrooms within these facilities.

Use of accent lights in businesses

Many companies and businesses use accent lights as a complement to their decoration and even for sales strategies, as in the case of stores that display their products in windows with accent lights.

Cinemas are another of the companies that benefit from accent lights, a clear example is the posters they use for the premieres of their films which are usually highlighted by means of lights.

Ambient lighting, task lighting and accent lighting

To illuminate a space, rather than betting on a single solution, it is recommended to use different types of luminaires, each of which will fulfill a specific function. To find the most appropriate solution, it is necessary to take into account the use of each zone, its size and its aesthetics.

There are three basic types of PoE lighting: mood lighting, task lighting and accent lighting. The combination of all three in the same space – especially in a multifunctional room – allows for a flexible and efficient lighting plan.

Ambient lighting has the function of providing general lighting and providing a uniform level of brightness. It is the first layer of the lighting plan and it sets the tone of a space. This is why it is generally soft or diffused and, most often, equipped with a dimmer to adapt it to day or night situations.

Ambient lighting is particularly important in corridors and stairways, where visibility and orientation must be optimal. It is also useful in kitchens and office rooms, where light fixtures provide a constant level of light.

There are several types of mood lights:

    1. Ceiling mounted or recessed ceiling lights that direct light downwards
    2. Wall sconces or floor lamps that sweep the wall and/or the ceiling with light
    3. The indirect lighting integrated into the cornices, the floor lamps and suspensions which reflect the light on the walls and ceilings.
    4. Although it provides general light, mood lighting is not ideal for working or highlighting certain elements of a space. This is the role of the other two types of lighting.

Ergonomic lighting will have many advantages:

    Concentration

A lack of light automatically leads to fatigue, because the body thinks that evening is already here and then switches to night mode. Employees are therefore less able to concentrate and make more errors. They are no longer as receptive and attentive. Ergonomic lighting in the workplace, on the other hand, can increase concentration, which will make it easier to complete even the most complex tasks.

    Productivity

Generally speaking, ergonomic lighting in the workplace leads to better results and improved performance. When LED lighting conditions are good, projects are often processed faster and more efficiently. This is due to greater motivation and the fact that employees feel more at ease.

    Satisfaction

The effectiveness of an employee’s work is often linked to his satisfaction. Spending eight hours a day sitting in a poorly lit workplace does not promote well-being, far from it. And when well-being is not there, performance is greatly affected. Good lighting is an essential factor in job satisfaction, as it automatically increases well-being.

    Health

Ergonomic lighting contributes to health. And this is all the more true when it comes to natural light. Daylight is indeed essential to the human body, which needs it to produce vitamin D, which is largely responsible for mood. It should also be remembered that inadequate lighting can irritate the eyes and damage them. Headaches are another side effect of poor lighting.

    Cost reduction

If a company relies on ergonomic workstation lighting, it can save money in certain circumstances, because the correct use of sunlight and the use of energy-efficient office luminaires can significantly reduce energy consumption. electricity and energy.
